American Journal of Civil Engineering
Article Processing Charges
All articles published in American Science Publishing (ASP) journals are open access and freely available online, immediately upon publication. At ASP, we guarantee that no university library or individual reader will ever have to buy a subscription or pay any pay- per-view fees to access articles in the electronic version of the journal. This is made possible by an article-processing charge (APC) that covers the range of publishing services we provide. This includes provision of online tools for editors and authors, routine operation of the journal, processing of manuscripts through peer-reviews, editing, publishing, archiving articles and hosting, liaison with abstracting and indexing services and customer services. The APC, payable when your manuscript is editorially accepted and before publication, is charged to either you, or your funder, institution or employer.
|Journal Title||Regular APC|
|American Journal of Civil Engineering||$599.00|
Who is responsible for making or arranging the payment?
As the corresponding author of the manuscript you are responsible for making or arranging the payment (for instance, via your institution) upon editorial acceptance of the manuscript.
Sources for Article Processing Charges (APC)
Even though authors of an article are responsible for arranging the payment of APC, but that typically does not mean that authors end up paying for the publication of the article. The cost of APC is very often assumed either by the organization funding the research published in the article, or by an Open Access Publishing Fund, or by the institution at which the author is employed.

At which stage is the amount I will need to pay fixed?
The APC payable for an article is agreed as part of the manuscript submission process. The agreed charge will not change, regardless of any change to the journal’s APC.
When and how do I pay?
Upon editorial acceptance of an article, the corresponding author (you) will be notified that payment is due. We advise prompt payment as we are unable to publish accepted articles until payment has been received. Payment can be made by any of the following methods:
Author Withdrawal Policy
For some reasons, an author may wish to withdraw a manuscript after submitting it.
Changing one’s mind is an author’s prerogative. And an author is free to withdraw an article at no charge – as long as it is withdrawn within two days of its original submission.
After two days, if author wishes to withdraw the article, it will be subjected to payment of partial processing fee. Each submission costs the publisher certain amount along with overhead cost during processing. Once peer review is completed on that manuscript and it has been worked into a journal issue, we have incurred costs on our end that need to be reimbursed.
The Authors need to pay 30% of the original article processing fee in case of withdrawal.
If you have concerns or questions about it, please let us know.
ASP does not ask Article Submission Fees
ASP does not request Article Submission Charges, also called Submission Fees. These are due at the time of submission of the manuscript. Nor does ASP charge per page or for color figures or for any other items for which other publishers are known to charge.
Please note that ASP's regular APC are well below average. Meanwhile, ASP never ceases to seek to improve the quality guaranteed to its authors and its readers in all kinds of ways.
ASP's Open Access Publishing Fund (AOAPF)
ASP offers extremely generous APC reductions to support authors from Low-Income Countries. ASP's APC reduction program is called ASP's Open Access Publishing Fund (AOAPF). In fact ASP is subsidizing authors by giving money back to them if compared to the amount of ASP's regular APC.
The first author of the paper will also be the corresponding author. ASP will just look at the country of origin of this author and will initiate the online invoice accordingly. In case the first author and the corresponding author differ, APC reductions are determined for each author's country of origin and the least favorable APC reduction is used. This is to protect ASP from possible unfair exploitation of AOAPF.
